Newsletter June 2016
The end of another BCT year has arrived and for many of us it will soon be time for holidays. We had a wonderful BCT year with a lot of events. We started with our great annual welcome brunch in September, followed by a friet and film evening in October and finished the year 2015 in style lingering under the palm trees on the rooftop where we all had a good chat, fine drinks and excellent food.
In February we had our coffee morning with excellent Belgian waffles made by our co president. The easter egg hunt in march was a huge success and we enjoyed at Mother’s day brunch in May an excellent international buffet. Also in May at the Get2gether evening we had a lot of Belgian beers. We will end this BCT year with the Euro2016 football match Belgium against Ireland held on the 18th of June.
We have to say with regret goodbye to 3 committee members; Freddy, the treasurer, will focus 100% of his time to his business, Murielle, sponsorship, will spent more time on personal activities and Ines, Kidsteam, will take up another challenge. BCT would like to thank these 3 wonderful people for their commitment and supports.
Last but not least I also will be leaving my position as president of the BCT because my family and me will leave the country for other opportunities outside Thailand.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to all of you. I have learned a great deal from you and will miss working for the BCT.
The Belgian Club Thailand needs URGENTLY people, as ONLY ONE team member remains, to join the BCT Committee to continue to ensure proper operation and continue to organise activities in the future.
Easter Egg hunt
On the 27th of March more then 75 children came to our Easter egg event The weather gods were favorable to us as just before and after the event it was raining. The children could enjoy a bouncy castle and arts and crafts like painting Easter eggs and colour the Easter bunny. But most important was that the Easter Bunny had hidden hundreds of colourful plastic eggs all around the grass field an behind the bushes which the children could afterwards exchange for a goodie bag full of delicious chocolates.
While the children were playing and hunting for eggs, the parents could enjoy a cup of coffee and delicious Belgian waffles, cake and fruit prepared by the BCT.
Based on the enormous turn-out and so many happy faces, we can say it was a successful morning.
We finally decided to proceed with our brunch on May 1 as originally planned. Despite the long weekend, it was a real success: we were 20 to participate.
Everyone: mothers with young children, with grown-up children, future mothers, and of course the fathers enjoyed a fantastic international buffet at the Pullman Hotel @ Asoke. Additionally the younger children had at their disposal a special play room while the older kids stayed at the table playing board games.
We had so much fun talking to each other that we lost track of time and we ended up closing the restaurant.
Last but not least to celebrate mother's Day all mothers were offered one rose.
BCT organized his Get2gether at Le Café des Stagiaires, a typical European neighborhood bar that follows his customers from breakfast to the dancing hours of the night. BCT members were offered a special discount of 10% on beverage after the happy hour.
The venue kept all his promises being exactly what it pretended to be. Some twenty BCT members and guests enjoyed each other’s company on Terrace like in the streets of Leuven, Namur or Brussels with many Belgian beers as Duvel, Chouffe, Orval, Chimay, …
The happy hour from 7.00pm to 8.30pm was well appreciated and it turned out to be an enjoyable evening. To do it again…
And still to come...
